Townsville, Qld

On our way from Port Douglas to Townsville we stopped at Cardwell for one of their famous Crab Sandwiches and were not disappointed. It’s a lovely spot, though the beach is a ‘no go’ zone because of the resident crocodiles.

We have spent a very relaxed week in Townsville. Along with head colds and a chest infection we had our van fridge assessed after finding that it no longer worked properly on 240VAC but did on gas. The quote to fix it was very close to the price of a new fridge so we will leave any decision until we get back to Melbourne as it still works well on gas. Also, the screen on the car’s Interior Control Centre (ICC) froze, so no SatNav, handsfree phone, radio, etc.  A day at the Ford dealer for a software upgrade and/or reboot seems to have fixed it.

As in 2015, we again stayed at Rowes Bay Caravan Park. Very quiet, lots of space with gardens between each site, across the road from the water, playgrounds, bike paths into town and views to Magnetic Island.

And this guy who visited each morning.

So, not a lot of exploring this time around, but if you want to know a little more about Townsville check out our blog from 2015.

Cheers til next time, Helen and Tim
