Sailing on Hervey Bay

Five magical days and nights on a catamaran.

We headed off with friends Marg and Pete, to learn the ins and outs of sailing. Pete has sailed since childhood. The waters of Hervey Bay are protected by the island of K’Gari making it a perfect place for novices like us.

After a briefing, the hire company took us out of the harbour and then we were on our own.

Sailing

Our days were spent exploring the bay and learning to sail.

A few small issues

K’Gari

In the afternoons we would moor near K’gari and go ashore to explore. There are lots of places to moor. On the first night we moored near Coongul Creek, second night Wathumba Creek, third night Arch Cliff, and fourth night Moon Point.

Evenings

Our evenings included fishing, sunsets, spectacular moon rises and fabulous food from our chef Pete.

A magical time with wonderful friends. Thanks Pete for sharing your knowledge with us and working so hard to make it a memorable trip.

cheers til next time, Helen & Tim
