Homer’s Happy Holiday, Cowes, Phillip Island, Vic

Homer, our Jack Russell, is 15 years old, turning 16 this year, too old to leave in a kennel when we go away. So we decided to try him in the van for the first time and took him to Cowes on Phillip Island for 2 nights. Because he is completely deaf,  mostly blind, and has arthritis in his back, he spent his time enjoying short, slow walks, taking in all the smells and meeting lots of other dogs.

Homeward Bound – Brisbane to Melbourne

Having said our sad farewells to family and friends in Brisbane we headed south. (Friends now also include the lovely Dr Lawrence Lee and all his wonderful staff who we got to know very well over the 5 months. If you have a detached retina go see him, he is fantastic.)

The first night we stopped at a free camp, ‘Beardy Creek Rest Area’ near Yarrowford, NSW. Wind so strong the trees were horizontal, thunder so loud it shook the van, lightning like the midday sun, and hail like snow.

The final shake down.

Road trip number six. With only 7 weeks until we head off on our Big Lap around Australia, this will be our final shake down trip to test out some modifications Tim has done to the van. These include replumbing all the waste water and installing a gas heater. (see Our Rig for more details)

Slight delay in departure due to El Nino’s, donkey, sore hoof.
