From Old Bar, on the NSW coast, we travelled inland to Gowrie, a farming area half an hour from Tamworth. We unintentionally took a short cut through the Nundle State Forest, a conifer plantation with many loaded logging trucks.

House Sitting
It was an honour to be entrusted with Amanda & Rob’s beautiful farm Delelvin, and their wonderful animals.
Furry Friends
No farm is complete without dogs. These five, being farm dogs, are all so well behaved. We quickly got to know each of their personalities and they kept us entertained with their antics.

Cattle
The Simmental or Swiss Fleckvieh is a Swiss breed of dual-purpose cattle, milk and beef.
We had a wonderful time getting to know the ones near the house.

Around the farm

Birds
The bird life was amazing. The most colourful ones we saw were the ‘Red Rumped Parrot’. The male is brightly coloured and the female has duller tones. They live about 15 years and mate for life, we mostly saw them in pairs. Well camouflaged in the grass.

Some Wedge-tailed eagles lived nearby in their favourite tree – they were tricky to photograph.

A trip into Tamworth
Great street art, good food at Burger Bulls if you’re in the area. We visited the gallery and discovered the Studebaker Car Club of Australia had their biannual show in the park (held in a different state each time)

Sunsets
The sunsets were spectacular. So many colours, from late afternoon until dark. Just beautiful.

cheers til next time, Helen & Tim
ps. On our way out of Tamworth we got the van brakes checked. So glad we did.
